Andrew Lloyd Webber's multi-award winning
musical comes to the big screen unlike anything has been before. The
beautiful sets and costumes give life to the characters that the stage
could never do. The story of a tortured musical genius who lives
beneath an opera house and tortures the cast and crew. Now after
tutoring one of the chorus girls, Christine, she is given the
opportunity to sing the lead in one of the operas due to the lead
soprano dropping out of the play. Now the Phantom's protoge can take
the stage but not without a fight from the former lead. Soon the
Phantom grows impatient with the people who are working in his theater
and now with Christine's love waning away from the Phantom and towards
her childhood love Raoul, things are about to change for the worse. But
Raoul has different plans for the Phantom but can this young man stop
the Phantom from wreaking havoc upon the innocent people or will our
disfigured "ghost" continue his reign over 'his' opera house?
This was a great adaptation from the stage to screen which isn't always
easy. The sets and costumes are truly amazing and I was personally
impressed by the detail on some of the sets. I have seen the play on
the stage and thoroughly enjoyed it and I was just as thrilled about
the film version. I recommend this movie for any musical fan as well as
stage buffs and anyone else who enjoys a good love story.
